Jagdalpur: The four day long heavy raining in Bastar Commissionarate has claimed eight lives; the Narayanpur district under the maximum losses where five peoples have lost their lives in this raining due to flood and demolishion of houses. More than 100 houses have been demolished due to this rain.
Ku. Sunita of Gadhbengal and Ramuram of Deogaon have exhibited an example of bravery by saving the lives of several persons in the flood captured areas there. In Gadhbengal, three persons have lost their lives due to the flooded water at Chandnibhata and Kushnar villages. One person each have died of the flood; within last 72 hours.

Jagdalpur: In series of exercises to save and expand the clan of speaking bird, designated state bird, the 'Hill-Myna', the latest effort has been made is to secure assistance from Thailand.
According to forest department sources, the government is keenly thinking to get assistances from zoologists of Thailand. The state is adopting a number of ways since year 1988 in order to conserve this unique species of talking bird. Even after a prolonged series of attempts and efforts. Still the Myna is at the verges of diminish. Expenditure of millions of rupees have been incurred in this fruitless effort since 1990, when a budget of 9 lacs was prepared for research and survey works in this respect. After reconstitution of Chhattisgarh State the former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi; pronounced the Hill Myna as “State Bird”.

Jagdalpur: The historical 75 days long Bastar Dussehra has started today on the occasion of “Hariyali Amavasya” with the “Paat-Jatra” ceremony with rite and rituals at Sirhasaar, infront of Danteshwari Temple, here at Jagdalpur.
The first and initial ritual of “Paat-Jatra Vidhan” stands for giving offerings to first wooden log brought from nearby village Bilauri meant for preparation of eight wheeler double storied wooden chariot for Dussehra festivity as per tradition. On this occasion the priest; the residents of Bilauri; the team leaders of artisans of two villages Jhar-Umar-Gaon and Beda-Umar-Gaon who have been traditionally entrusted with the responsibilities of manufacturing this historical chariot, office bearers of Bastar Dussehra Samiti and public representatives of various political parties and Manjhi Mukhia’s of various areas of Bastar were present and participated in the traditional rituals and ceremonies of “Pat-Jatra” puja.

Jagdalpur: Late last night over one hundred Maoists attacked over loading point site of Essar Company at Kirandul of Dantewada district and ablazed five vehicles pertaining to Essar, meant for loading and transporting the iron ore. One Maoist bearing award of rupees five thousand has been arrested in Durgkondal area of Kanker and gun recovered.
According to police, few months back the maoists had damaged the iron-ore transportation system by water force through some 335 kms long pipeline spread over by Essar Group in between Bailadila to Visakhapatnam which lead to transportation of Iron-Ore by truck. Last night, at about 11:45 pm some 100 Maoists equipped with arms attacked over loading site and burnt the five trucks standing in a queue for ore loading. The CISF cops present there took positions and countered the Maoist attack which forced the Maoists to escape away. While escaping the Maoists also damaged the weighing bridge installed by Essar.

Jagdalpur: Under the shadows of Maoist celebration of Martyr’s week from today since 3rd August, the surface transport system of Bastar has been almost ceased. The passenger buses to and fro affected areas remained off the road today and will remain stand still through out the week. The passenger train running between Kirandul to Visakhapatnam is bein running between Visakhapatnam and Jagdalpur instead of going upto Kirandul (Bailadila) under the threat of Maoist violence.
Similarly, the goods trains will run only during day hours and not in night hours. Due to this arrangement, the iron-ore transportation from Kirandul to Visakhapatnam is being facing set back, putting the railway to an estimated loss of 3 million rupees per day.

Jagdalpur: Almost in all the five districts of Bastar Commissionarate the flood status have been arrived due to heavy and dense raining since last two days. Public life in general have been disrupted. The rivers are flowing very high. Two persons including a boy have died of drowning in a sub-side river. The transport alongside Jagdalpur-Hyderabad road has been disrupted due to floods.
According to Central Water Commission, the water level of rivers Indrawati and Shabri are rising very fast. At Jagdalpur the water level over Indrawati has been measured as 3.60 meters, which is 4 meters below the danger mark.
The water has been poured within lower residential areas of Jagdalpur city. One 7 years old boy has died of drowning into the river last evening at nearby village Palwa under Parpa police station area. On Jagdalpur-Raipur road the water level of river Markandey is raising high.
Similarly, the transport of medium-light vehicles have been affected due to rise in water level on Jagdalpur-Chitrakote road. In Nagarnar area, the water level of Indrawati is rising in speedy way at villages Bhejripadar and Nadiborna, due to it these, the villages are once again at the verges of converting into islands, as always remained in their records. For safe escort of residents of these two villages, the district administration has deployed two motor-boats to act efficiently as and when the necessity arises. At a number of danger poured locations at the banks of Indrawati, the duties of life guards and police has been confirmed by the administration.
