Balasore: India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed interceptor missile, capable of destroying any in-coming hostile ballistic missile, from the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler Island off Orissa coast. Aimed at developing a full-fledged multi-layer Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system, the trial was carried out from two launch sites of ITR off the Orissa coast, defence sources said. The whole exercise is to achieve the desired result with precision, said a senior defence scientist.
The target missile, a modified surface-to-surface 'Prithvi' was first lifted off from a mobile launcher at 10:05 am from the launch complex-3 of ITR at Chandipur-on-sea, 15 km from Balasore.
The interceptor "AAD" missile, positioned at Wheeler Island, about 70 km across sea from Chandipur getting signals from radars tracked it a few minutes later and than intercepted at a definite altitude in the mid-air over the sea, the sources said.

Jagdalpur: One huge rock at the upper top of famous waterfall ‘Tirathgarh’ of Bastar district, has been partially uprooted from its billion years old natural structure, causing alarming danger of its falling down to the point where the first stage of falling water completes, and there hundreds of tourists, nature-lovers use to remain round the clock. Thus, the danger of grave-loss to human life any day at any moment is persistent there. However, it appears that a tree at the bottom throat of this uprooted rock is the only support which has kept the rock balanced, but it may not prove to be a support for longer period. The reason behind this dangerous position of rock has been stated as loss of internal intactness of its molecules due to facing heavy current of water fall and thousands of years of facing environmental changes.
The caution boards have been kept place to place warning the tourists to keep at least 20 meters distance from abnormally angular or hanging rocks as rock felling may cause losses or put the lives in danger. Even after these caution notes, as there is nobody to keep eyes over the activities of visitors, certain adventure devoted visitors use to overlook the cautions.
