In an encounter and blasting by the naxals at Sonpur of Narayanpur District, this morning one cop lost his life and two others have been seriously injured, who have been airlifted to Raipur for treatment. Their conditions have been stated serious but out of danger.
According to police sources, 80 members police patrol party was there since last night at Sonpur fare site of Narayanpur district. Meanwhile, this troop was informed about the presence of the Maoist in nearby forest. On the basis of this information, this patrol party reached near the village Vasing, 12 kms away from Kurushnaar at about 4:15 AM this morning, and the Maoists started attacking over this party. Police party also rebutted the naxal attack. In between the encounter one constable Ashwini Pradhaan lost his life in the naxal land mine blast. Another constable Ramnath Salam and one SPO Bisru have also been seriously injured in this encounter and blast. According to Additional S.P. Narayanpur, Sujeet Kumar, the explosive was installed by the naxals at the point where from these three cops were firing over the naxals during encounter and the naxals blasted the same in order to kill these three cops. Ramnath has sustained injuries over his legs and Bisru’s soldiers have been injured in this encounter.
The mortal remains of the deceased cop Ramnath has been sent for his native town Bilaspur. It is to state that, after the announcement of election boycott by the naxals last week the outlaws have increased the violent activities. Yesterday itself they have killed four persons in Bijapur district.
